Largest worldwide research on worldwide labour market mobility to be conducted by Intelligence Group

Intelligence Group/The Network to carry out research in 65 countries

In June and July of 2011 the Dutch research agency Intelligence Group, together with the Network, will conduct research worldwide in 65 countries on the subject of international labour market mobility. After researching 8 countries in 2006 and forty countries in 2009, the study in 2011 will include 65 countries. With that the research will be the most comprehensive study on international labour market mobility that has ever been conducted. In total a minimum of 150.000 persons will be questioned.

The labour market globalizes with high speed

Now that the ‘war for talent’ has started in earnest the labour market has really begun to globalize. Generation Y, social media and search engines add momentum to this development as could already be learned from the Global Talent Mobility Research in 2009. Employers worldwide are searching for highly educated talent in particular, especially in technical fields, ICT, R&D and management.
One of the major obstacles in international recruitment is the lack of knowledge with regard to the global labour market. Where do you find the talent and will employers be able to reach and move them internationally? Intelligence Group and The Network want to facilitate this through this research and by providing more transparency in the international labour market. In this way employers – and countries – should be in a better position to attract international talent. “More and more employers designate the international labour market as a recruitment market, but subsequently they have no idea how to find and move talented potential employees” says Steven Lewis of The Network. “This year we can extend the research further into 65 countries since it is increasingly a subject that companies and countries are concerned about”.

Research in the G20 and in more than 20 languages

The research is very comprehensive. All G20 countries, but also the most important developing economies such as the BRIC countries and all of the European countries are part of the study. This means that the research will be programmed in twenty languages and will be customized for each of the 65 countries. This will be a very voluminous project in which a minimum of 150.000 persons will be questioned. “Never before has a research of this magnitude been carried out on in the field of international labour market mobility” says Geert-Jan Waasdorp, CEO Intelligence Group. “We are proud that – after providing much needed transparency in the Dutch labour market – we can now do this on a worldwide scale”.
